Felin
Fach Griffin
Tradition meets with simplicity and modern comfort at this acclaimed
Welsh country inn, entirely devoid of horse-brasses, Welsh love
spoons and any sign of chintz. It is owned and run by Ballymaloe-trained
chef Charles Inkin, who has carried his uncompromising belief in
‘the simple things in life – done well’ to this
quiet Welsh valley in the shadow of the Black Mountains and the
Brecon Beacons.
‘Eatdrinksleep’
is the name of the company that created the Griffin, and these basic
needs are treated with great attention to detail. Each room is individually
designed to be the very antithesis of large, impersonal hotels.
At the heart of Felin Fach Griffin is pure country, arrive to a
large farmhouse table strewn with the day’s papers, deep leather
sofas and an open fire.
Chef Ricardo Van Ede’s food is simple but utterly delicious
focusing on the very best of local ingredients. It is served by
friendly, local staff and accompanied by plenty of traditional ales
and an excellent choice of wines. The atmosphere is informal, the
setting impeccable. In fact, the Griffin’s seductive contemporary
take on traditional innkeeping should be sampled at the earliest
opportunity.
 Penally
Abbey
Penally Abbey is a fine country house rich in character and old
world charm. Set in five acres of gardens and woodlands, with magnificent
sea views over Tenby golf course and Carmarthen Bay, it enjoys an
air of peace and tranquillity that befits its monastic past.
We will offer every promise of a new experience and the delights
of staying here will put an extra spring in your step. There are
so many places to see that even on rainy days there is much to do.
Early evening meals await the return of exhausted children, allowing
you the freedom to indulge yourself. Why not relax, sip cocktails
on the terrace and enjoy an intimate candlelit dinner.
Focus your attention on the hotel’s small heated pool, games
room or just curl up with a book in front of a blazing log fire.
Penally Abbey offers all the home comforts, en-suite bathrooms,
exquisite décor, period furnishings and four-poster beds.
The atmosphere is so relaxed and friendly and the hospitality is
second to none.
Savour the delicacies from Pembrokeshire’s most romantic
restaurant, where the emphasis is on delicious food from fresh local
produce.
 Tenby
House Hotel
Once the seaside home of Sir William Paxton, founder of Tenby’s
Regency Spa, the hotel’s accommodation is of a high standard
with 18 ensuite bedrooms furnished and decorated to echo the grandeur
of this Regency building. For guests that prefer that extra freedom
we have two small self catering cottages within our grounds. The
bars are popular with residents and local people alike, and the
courtyard is a suntrap. Paxton’s Bistro is a cosy and well
appointed restaurant serving a wide range of cuisine from fresh
local produce. The entire place has a superb ambience, making it
a great place to stay, eat, drink and enjoy good company with family
and friends. Lesley Fisher and family extend a warm welcome.
